How to Launch a Telehealth Brand With a Medical Group Behind It
In most states a non-physician can own a healthcare brand but not the medical practice itself. The standard structure is a physician-owned professional corporation (PC) that delivers the care, paired with a management services organization (MSO) that runs the business side under a management services agreement. TrueEval is the licensed medical group and clinical operating platform behind healthcare brands. The brand keeps its name, pricing, marketing and customer relationship; TrueEval's medical group supplies the professional entity, the licensed providers and the medicine.

Many states follow the corporate practice of medicine (CPOM) doctrine: a company owned by non-physicians may not practice medicine, employ physicians to practice it, or control clinical decisions. How strictly it is applied varies widely from state to state. So a healthcare brand separates two things that look like one business from the outside: the commercial company that owns the brand, and the licensed professional entity that delivers care. The patient is the brand's customer and, at the same time, the professional entity's patient. It is the same person in two different relationships. They are your customer — you own the brand, the pricing and everything you say to them. They are the professional entity's patient, and the clinical relationship and the medical record sit there, because the law puts them there.
What you own, and what the medical group owns
The line is a legal boundary, not a sales preference. Everything commercial stays with the brand; everything clinical sits with the licensed professional entity. Yours: Your brand, Your pricing, Your marketing, The customer relationship. The medical group's: The professional entity, Licensed providers, The visit, Prescribing, The medical record.
Build the medical side yourself, or run on one that exists
Building it yourself means forming and maintaining a professional entity in each state where the rules require one, finding a physician owner, recruiting and credentialing providers in every state you serve, writing and maintaining clinical protocols, licensing a clinical record system, and tracking rule changes across every jurisdiction you touch. TrueEval is the licensed medical group and clinical operating platform behind healthcare brands. We supply the licensed providers and medical oversight, the clinical visits and prescribing, TrueEHR and the clinical technology, scheduling and clinical workflows, labs and diagnostics, Rx and pharmacy coordination, and the state-aware compliance rails underneath all of it. You own the brand and the commercial relationship. We run the medicine.
What to have ready before launch
The clinical side can be ready quickly when it already exists. What usually sets the timeline is the brand's own readiness: A live front end for patients to land on. A decided scope: what you sell, in which states, and at what price. Someone running your marketing. LegitScript certification if you intend to advertise on Google or Meta. A decision on who is Merchant of Record for patient payments (see the guide on Merchant of Record).
How long it takes
Onboarding runs 3 to 60 days. Where you land is set by how far along your business is, not by anything on our side — we are the medical group and the provider network, already licensed and operating, so there is nothing for you to license, credential or build clinically. 3 to 7 days when your front end is already live, your scope is decided, and you are not waiting on LegitScript. Closer to 60 days when the funnel still has to be built, or you need LegitScript certification to advertise on Google or Meta — that runs four to five weeks through us and nobody can compress it.
How the money moves
TrueEval supports two partnership structures. TrueEval as Merchant of Record is the preferred turnkey model. Established operators may keep their own merchant account and patient billing while using TrueEval's clinical infrastructure. With TrueEval as Merchant of Record, patients pay through a TrueEval-approved payment rail. The clinical (professional) portion stays with TrueEval's medical group, and the brand's management company is paid under its management services agreement. Pricing is scoped to your program: the states, specialties, and parts of the clinical stack you need. You get your quote in writing on the first call, before you sign anything, with no state or volume minimums.
A note on advice
This guide is general information, not legal advice. Corporate practice of medicine rules, fee-splitting rules and licensing requirements differ by state; an operator should have its own healthcare counsel review entity structure and contracts.

Who provides the doctors for a telehealth brand?
The licensed medical group behind the brand does. TrueEval is the licensed medical group and clinical operating platform behind healthcare brands. The providers practice under TrueEval's medical group in the states the program operates in.
